Michael Pack suspected of misuse of funds of his organization
WASHINGTON – A leading Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee said that an investigation is underway in the District of Columbia Attorney General’s office against a nonprofit organization that President Trump has nominated as head of the Global Media Agency.
Senator Bob Menendez said Thursday that the investigation was designed to establish whether Michael Pack used Public Media Lab funds for personal interests and whether their use was illegal.
The United States Global Media Agency is responsible for state-owned broadcasting networks, including Voice of America.
According to Menendez, since the September hearing on the approval of his candidacy, Paek “refused to provide the Committee on Foreign Relations with the requested documents necessary to understand the case that is currently being investigated by the prosecutor general’s office, or to correct the false information provided to them by the Tax Administration.”
Menendez added that he was calling on the head of Republican committee Jim Rich to defer consideration of Pack’s candidacy.
