Less than two months ago, there were 10 million people infected in the United States. The epidemic caused the deaths of nearly 336,000 U.S. residents.
As of Dec. 30, about 2.8 million people in the U.S. had been vaccinated – the plan was to have 20 million. The states had received 12.4 million doses.
Senator Mitt Romney called on the federal government to step up its efforts, noting serious shortcomings in the process. In particular, Romney urged the Trump administration to deploy vaccination sites in schools: vaccinations are now administered in hospitals and pharmacies.
