American gymnast breaks Horkina’s record

American gymnast Simone Biles set a record for the number of medals won at the world championships. This is reported on Twitter by the U.S. Olympic Committee.

Biles won a gold medal in the team competition with the U.S. national team at the World Championships in Stuttgart on October 8. For the American, this award was the 21st of her career at the world championships. Thus, she surpassed the achievement of Russian Svetlana Horkina, who scored 20 medals. Last November, Biles set a record for the number of victories in the individual all-around at the world championships. Then she won the fourth gold of her career and also beat Horkina, who won the all-around three times.

Biles has 12 world championship gold medals. She won the Olympic title four times at the Rio Games in 2016.
