Turkey is currently passing through the Bosporus the last Russian warships, after which the passage between the Black and Mediterranean Seas will be closed. The event takes place against the backdrop of escalating conflict with Greece.
Turkey’s media reports that if Greece or other naTo countries create any kind of tension, the Bosphorus strait will be closed immediately, without any warning.
For Russia, closing it will have negative consequences. The Russian Naval Base at the Syrian port of Tartous will be left without supplies. Everyone knows that the main “supply man” who delivers everything the Russians need, including heavy equipment, to the SAR via Bosporus is BDK Saratov.
Closing the strait will interrupt the supply of weapons and equipment to Syria, and this may be important. Especially as Turkey expands its presence in Idlib and accumulates forces.
The publication also notes that the airspace for any Russian military aircraft could also be closed at any time. Turkey believes that relocating Russian forces to the ATS or Libya would then be very difficult.
