People are used to scaring each other with prophecies about the “end of the world. This expression is heard so often, and the date of the global apocalypse has been given so many times that many people have long stopped fearing it. Nevertheless, the “end of the world” could still happen. Researchers have put the concept on a scientific basis. As a result, it turned out that “the end of times” is inevitable. The only consolation for the present may be that it will happen not in the foreseeable future, but billions of years later.
Scientists consider the Sun to be the main danger. The star, which forms the basis of the system, bestows heat, among other things, on the planets and the Earth. Thanks to the heat on our planet, the origin of life is possible. However, the heat may become so great that all life will die. Researchers are convinced of the inevitability of such a scenario. Their firmness is based on the study of the Sun and its age. The Sun continuously throws a fantastic amount of energy into space. But the star’s resources are not infinite.
Space explorers suggest that there is still plenty of time before this fatal moment – at least 5 billion years. However, the “harbingers” of the coming universal catastrophe can be seen already now. This can be seen in the ever-increasing rise in temperature. Temperature growth, slowly but surely, will bring our blue planet to its doom. According to scientists at the end of a billion years, this process will be irreversible.
