A shell fell near the U.S. Embassy in Iraq

A mortar shell landed near the U.S. Embassy in the Iraqi capital Baghdad. This is reported by Al Arabiya citing sources.

According to preliminary information, at least one person was killed – a security guard of the building. Shafaq reports that the deceased was an Iraqi soldier.

It is noted that in the so-called green zone there are government buildings and foreign missions.

Protests in Iraq began on October 1. Their cause is the dissatisfaction of the population with unemployment, corruption and poor quality of social services. Prime Minister Abdul Mahdi has already promised employment for all those with an education and has pledged to guarantee a quota of 50 percent of local jobs in foreign companies operating under a government contract.
