An American pastor has invented a “gendered” ending to Christian prayer.
The day before, Missouri pastor Emanuel Cleaver stunned parishioners by ending a prayer on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives with the words:
“Amen and a-woman!”
The pastor’s witticism drew the ire of Republicans. Congressman Tim Burchett declared that “political correctness is finally out of control.”
“There is no hint of gender in the word ‘amen.’ It is a word that means “so be it.” Absolute absurdity!” – House Republican member Rick Crawford wrote in a microblog.
