Belarus found “puppeteers” from Gazprom at Lukashenko’s main rival

The Committee on State Control (KGK) of Belarus reported that the activities of the detainee in the case of Belgazprombank Viktor Babariko, who claims to be the president of the republic, were controlled by “puppeteers” from Gazprom. BelTA writes about this.

“It seems that Babariko is trying to play nobility. We, in turn, know that the puppeteers behind his activities fear that our actions will lead to the receipt of data and confirmation of their involvement in this illegal activity. Such persons are, we know, the big bosses at Gazprom, and maybe even higher, ”said KGC Chairman Ivan Tertel, commenting on the case against Alexander Lukashenko’s main rival in the upcoming presidential elections on August 9.

Babariko is suspected of influencing witnesses and hiding evidence of previously committed crimes. KGK reported that over 430 million US dollars were illegally withdrawn from the account of Belgazprombank, which was previously headed by a politician, in the Latvian ABLV bank for several years.

In total, more than 20 people were detained in the case. Almost all of them cooperate with the investigation and give confessionary evidence regarding Babariko as the organizer of the criminal scheme, the KGC said.

On the morning of June 18, they stated at the headquarters of Babariko that he was not communicating. Later it became known that the politician, along with his son Eduard, are being interrogated in the case of Belgazprombank on tax evasion and legalization of proceeds from crime. A week ago, searches were conducted in the office of a credit organization.
