Ray takes over after James Comey resigns
President Joe Biden intends to keep Christopher Wray as FBI director, CNBC reported Thursday, citing a White House source.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki, responding Wednesday to a question about whether President Biden trusts Ray, said she had not spoken to the president on the subject.
Recall that Ray was appointed to head the FBI by President Donald Trump in 2017 – following the resignation of James Comey, who previously led the agency.
Trump sent Comey’s resignation in the midst of an ongoing FBI investigation into possible collusion between Trump cronies and Russia to help Trump win the presidential election.
