U.S. President Joe Biden called on Congress to tighten gun laws. His administration released a statement on the third anniversary of the Parkland high school tragedy that killed 17 people.
“I call on Congress to enact common-sense reforms to gun laws, including requiring background checks for all gun sales, banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and eliminating the ability to evade liability for those gun manufacturers who knowingly distribute assault weapons on our streets,” Joe Biden said in the statement. The text ends with, “It’s time to act.”
Joe Biden has been promising about gun law reform since the campaign. He proposed banning assault weapons altogether and buying them back rather than confiscating them from owners.
