A judge forbade the Biden administration to impose a moratorium on deportations

The preliminary injunction was issued at the request of Texas

A federal judge indefinitely enjoined President Joe Biden’s administration from imposing a 100-day moratorium on most deportations.

District Judge Drew Tipton issued the preliminary injunction sought by Texas authorities, who argued that the moratorium violated federal law and could impose additional costs on the state.

During the campaign, Biden proposed a 100-day pause on deportations as part of a broader review of immigration enforcement and an attempt to change former President Donald Trump’s priorities.
