Microsoft founder Bill Gates, whose charitable foundation has allocated $ 300 million to fight COVID-19, warned that a person may need not one, but several doses of vaccine to form immunity to coronavirus, reports CBS News.
“At the moment, it does not seem that any of the vaccines will work after a single dose. That was the hope at the very beginning,” – said Gates in an interview with the channel.
However, he did not rule out that any vaccine, especially the second generation, may “surprise” in the future.
“We’re hoping only two (doses). Although in the case of older people, sometimes more will be needed,” said the Microsoft founder, when asked how many doses of vaccine would be needed.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is the second-largest donor to WHO, contributing 9.76% of the organization’s budget in 2018-2019. The Foundation finances research in the production of drugs and vaccines.
