British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was among the first heads of state and government to receive a call after U.S. President Joseph Biden took office.
“Very pleased to have a conversation with President Joe Biden on Saturday. I look forward to strengthening our countries’ long-standing partnership during the green-sustainable recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic,” Johnson wrote on Twitter.
Biden’s calls to other European leaders were not previously reported. It is known that after taking office, the new White House leader held conversations with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, as well as Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
Biden took office as president of the United States on Jan. 20.
