Bulgaria signed an agreement on the purchase of f-16 fighters

American aircraft will replace the outdated Russian MiG-29s currently in service in Bulgaria.
Bulgarian Defense Minister Krasimir Karakachanov signed an agreement on the acquisition of eight American multi-functional fighters F-16 Block 70. About it reports UKRINFORM on Friday, July 12.

“On the basis of the decision of the Council of Ministers of Bulgaria, defense Minister Krasimir Karakachanov signed an international agreement on the acquisition, combat equipment and further maintenance of American multi-functional fighters F-16 Block 70,” the report said.

On the eve of the Bulgarian government approved an agreement on the acquisition of fighters.

Delivery of fighters will be carried out after the ratification of the Treaty by the People’s Assembly of Bulgaria and us Congress.

According to the government of Bulgaria, the total cost of fighters will be slightly more than 1.2 billion euros.

American fighters will replace the outdated Russian MiG-29s currently in service in Bulgaria.

We will remind, in May of last year, Bulgaria has refused to buy Russian MiG fighter jets. Bulgarian President rumen Radev said that it is “impossible”.

Later it became known that Bulgaria offered seven countries to apply for the supply of 16 fighters to replace the old MiG-29. Russia did not get on this list.

And in June 2019, our administration decided to sell Bulgaria f-16C/D Block 70/72 fighters and related equipment to them for a total of $1,673 billion.
