China threatens to respond harshly to U.S.

China has strongly opposed the deployment of medium- and short-range missiles in Asia, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said.
“The Chinese side strongly opposes the deployment of medium- and short-range missiles in the Asia-Pacific region by the United States expresses extreme dissatisfaction with the constant pressure of the U.S. side on neighboring countries and open provocations on china’s doorstep,” RIA Novosti quoted a Chinese diplomat as saying.
He also warned that Beijing would retaliate if Washington continued its “provocative actions” in the Asia-Pacific region.
Earlier, U.S. Special Envoy for Arms Control Marshall Billingsley in an interview with the Japanese edition of “Nikkei” said Washington intends to discuss ways to improve the protection of allies with a number of Asian countries. He linked such measures to the growing threat to the national security of the United States from China.
Earlier, Sputnik radio reported that the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova responded to the statements about the U.S. intention to deploy missiles in Asia.
