The Chinese have begun static launch tests of five new magnetic cushion trains, which in the future will be able to develop dizzying speeds. The innovative transport being developed in the Celestial Empire will be able to travel at a constant speed of 400 to 600 km/h, thus blurring the boundaries between small regional aircraft and railroads.
Previously used maglevs, called Fuxing, reached a maximum speed of 400 km/h, but in most cases, they did not exceed 350 km/h.
The appearance of the new high-speed magnetic suspension train is different from the previous Fuxing trains. The front of the older generation cars has a length of 12 m. The forehead of the new trains will be increased to 16 m. This difference will improve aerodynamics and cut the air column evenly at high speeds. The most significant difference between the current and future maglevs is their power.
It’s worth noting that planes are able to travel faster, but if you consider the time taken to get to the airport and check-in, the balance of benefits could shift in the direction of the new trains.
