CIA Director Gina Haspel said it was her greatest honor to lead the organization.
“The greatest honor of my life has been to lead this wonderful organization. I leave with great pride in the work we have done together,” Haspel said in a statement quoted by the CIA.
In 2018, Haspel became the first woman to head the CIA. U.S. President-elect Joe Biden confirmed that he intends to nominate a former ambassador to Russia William Burns for CIA director.
