Corning unveils new Gorilla Glass Victus glass

Seeing a new smartphone in a glass case, users dream of buying it. Such devices, indeed, look premium. But the owners of such smartphones dream of something else. The fact that the glass “back” and the front panel are not covered with scratches and “web” after a careless fall. Despite the fact that Corning improves technology, smartphones in glass cases remain very sensitive to physical influences.

But here’s the good news – there’s a new Gorilla Glass Victus glass. It significantly exceeds its predecessors and competitors’ products. At the same time, Corning argues that Victus is equally good at resisting both scratches and blows. Recall that earlier the manufacturer made more emphasis on the stability of its glasses to falls on hard surfaces. The company’s specialists claim that it is able to remain intact when falls from a height of up to 2 meters. Glass 6 and 5 generations can boast a maximum height of 1.6 and 1.2 meters, respectively.

At the same time, the company has an understanding of the existence of significant differences between tests and what happens in real life. Falls can be different, as can the devastating effect of them. In addition, one of Corning’s bosses, Jamin Amin, says that even the best Victus glass will not be able to protect the gadget from scratch, if you are careless and carry it in the same pocket with trifles and keys. The first gadget with the new Gorilla Glass Victus will be a smartphone Galaxy Note20. It will be available at the end of August. Next, we should expect the appearance of other smartphones with Victus glass.
