Coronavirus: China raises $1.5 billion in donations

A quarter of the sum was donated by large Chinese corporations and local businesses. Jack Ma has allocated 14.4 million to develop the vaccine.
China has collected nearly $1.5 billion in donations to fight pneumonia caused by the 2019-nCoV virus. According to ChinaNews, the charitable alliance of China has registered more than 10 billion yuan of donations. Corporations such as Alibaba, Baidu and Tencent have made particular contributions.

As specified in the alliance, all charitable funds come “in accordance with local legislation on a completely transparent basis.”

According to the latest data, 259 people have become the victims of the new coronavirus in China, 243 people have been discharged from hospitals, more than 11.7 thousand people are infected.

In addition, additional 17,988 cases with a suspected new type of coronavirus have been reported.
