Cuba produces first batch of its own coronavirus vaccine

Cuba has produced the first batch of its own Soberana 02 coronavirus vaccine, Telesur reported, citing the Finley Vaccine Institute.
The first batch consists of 150 thousand vaccines. As the TV channel informs, the scientists are ready to start production of the second batch of the same volume. Institute director Vicente Veres noted that the third phase of Soberana 02 clinical trials will begin in March. Initially, 42,000 people will receive the vaccine.
The Cuban regulatory agency Cecmed approved Phase I clinical trials of the second Cuban vaccine, Soberana 02, in late October.
Cuban scientists have so far developed four vaccines against COVID-19. The Finley Vaccine Institute is investigating two drugs, Soberana 01 and Soberana 02. Soberana 02 is the most advanced, with Phase II starting in December. Phase II/III of Soberana 01 is scheduled for February.
