She became the first Native American cabinet member
The Senate confirmed Deb Haaland as Minister of the Interior in the Joe Biden administration.
She will go down in history as the first Native American cabinet member.
The decision was taken with 51 votes in favor, 40 against.
Most Republicans voted against it after some lawmakers called her views on public land use and fossil fuels extreme.
This is not the first time Haaland has made history. In 2018, she became one of the first two Native American women to be elected to Congress.
