In December, Navalny was put on the wanted list and intended to be detained for “violating his probation.
Russia’s Federal Penitentiary Service intends to detain opposition activist Alexei Navalny upon his arrival in the country, RIA Novosti reported on Thursday, January 14.
Navalny said that the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service in Moscow “is obliged to take all measures” to detain Navalny before the court decides to replace his suspended sentence with a real one.
It is noted that in December, Navalny was declared wanted, because, since September 24, his actual location is unknown.
He will be detained in connection with a “malicious violation of the probation regime”.
The day before, Navalny announced his return to Russia on January 17. Initially, he had planned to fly, but later he announced that he would arrive by train.
