Members of the U.S. House of Representatives, Democrats Ted Lew, and Kathleen Rice are asking the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to initiate a criminal investigation against incumbent President Donald Trump after reports of his phone call to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.
NBC News reported this, citing a letter from Democrats to FBI Director Christopher Wray.
“As members of Congress and former prosecutors, we believe that Donald Trump has engaged in incitement or conspiracy to commit a number of election-related crimes,” the letter stated.
Earlier, the media reported that the incumbent US President Donald Trump in a telephone conversation with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger called for a recount of the US state election in his favor.
The U.S. election was held on Nov. 3. On December 14, the electoral college approved the results of the vote, according to which Democrat Joe Biden will become the new president of the United States. The incumbent head of state Donald Trump did not admit defeat and appealed to the courts demanding a recount in a number of states.
