Denmark advocated for new discussion on SP-2

Europe should not become dependent on Russian gas, said Danish Prime Minister Mette Fredriksen.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Fredriksen proposed to hold a new discussion on the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline after the poisoning of Russian opposition activist Alexey Navalny. This was announced by the Danish Broadcasting Corporation DR on Saturday, September 12.

“I was against the Nord Stream-2 all the time. I believe that we should not become dependent on Russian gas. It would be good if we could start a new discussion on this issue,” Fredriksen said.

She welcomed the fact that German Chancellor Angela Merkel is now more critical of Nord Stream 2.

“In my opinion, in the current situation, there is no reason to make us dependent on Russian gas. I think it would be good if our southern neighbor (Germany – ed.) had a renewed discussion after what happened (Navalny poisoning),” Mette Frederiksen said.

Recall that Germany is considering suspending the construction of Nord Stream-2 due to the situation with Alexey Navalny. This was stated by German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas.
