American actress Gloria Henry, the star of Dennis the Menace in the late 1950s and early 1960s, has died at the age of 98. The daughter of the artist Erin Ellwood announced this on Instagram.
The cause of death was not specified. Henry passed away the day after celebrating her 98th birthday. “Now she flies, free of her body,” said her daughter, adding that the last year with Henry was “wonderful and sad” at the same time.
Earlier, Ellwood posted on Instagram a post congratulating her mother on her birthday. “It was a tough month – we weren’t sure if she would live to be 98, but she did it!” – wrote the daughter of the actress.
In Dennis the Menace, Gloria Henry played the role of Alice Mitchell, the mother of the main character, the boy Dennis. The series, based on the newspaper comic strip of the same name by artist Hank Ketchum, ran from 1959 to 1963. Later, the Dennis the Menace franchise acquired several full-length films and an animated series. Gloria Henry has also starred in television shows such as Father Knows Best, Perry Mason, Hazel, and Dallas. Her last appearance on the screens took place in the series “Parks and Recreation Areas”, where she played a cameo role.
