The Russian Embassy in Colombia is studying the data on the possible involvement of the Russian in the plans to assassinate the President Ivan Duke, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the press attache of the diplomatic mission Yevgeny Naumov.
Earlier, the Colombian media reported that local authorities are looking for two foreigners from Russia and Israel, who allegedly prepared the assassination attempt on Duque and his family. It is alleged that the wanted men are “experienced snipers”, and one of them is a special forces officer.
“The information we have is limited to what is published by the Colombian media, but we are in contact with the competent Colombian authorities,” Naumov said.
He noted that the Russian embassy is in contact with Colombian authorities, who have informed the embassy about the suspicion that a man with Russian citizenship or Russian nationality may have been involved in the “uncovered conspiracy.
It is specified that the “sniper from Russia” has not been detained or identified and there is no confirmation of his Russian citizenship either.
