Doctors administered the first of two doses of the Russian COVID-19 vaccine to Alberto Fernandez. He thanked the developers of the drug and Argentinean doctors.
Argentine President Alberto Fernandez received his first vaccination against coronavirus with the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. The head of state was vaccinated at the Alejandro Posados National Hospital.
“Today I received the Sputnik V vaccine… Vaccination helps build immunity against the coronavirus. Let’s do it,” Fernandez wrote on his Twitter page.
He also thanked the developers of the drug and Argentine health workers “for their tremendous commitment.
It is known that the Russian Direct Investment Fund and the government of the country have signed a contract for the supply of 10 million doses of the drug. The first batch of the vaccine (300,000 doses) was delivered to the country at the end of last year.
The Ministry of Health of Argentina authorized to use of the Russian drug for vaccination of citizens over 60 years old.
