In Philadelphia, USA, dozens of police officers were injured in racially motivated confrontations, and at least 12 hospitalized. This was reported today, October 27, by Newsweek magazine.

The day before, police officers were forced to shoot at a young black man while in detention. Walter Wallace, 27, armed with a knife, walked toward the police, who repeatedly called on him to drop his weapon. His mother was next to Wallace, who was also trying to calm the young man down. After that, it turned out that Wallace suffered from mental disorders and was constantly taking medication.

The mayor of Philadelphia, Jim Kenney, expressed his condolences to the family and friends of Wallace.

“I look forward to a speedy and honest resolution of the situation for the sake of Mr. Wallace, his family, the police, and in the name of Philadelphia,” the mayor said.
As a result, riots began on the streets of Philadelphia. During the protests, more than 30 people were detained who attacked law enforcement officers, as well as smashed windows of buildings, vandalized and set fire to garbage cans. At least 30 policemen were injured by bricks and stones.
