Earthquake hits Italy

The tremors were recorded in the south of the country. Information on the consequences and possible casualties is not yet available.
In the region of Calabria in southern Italy on the evening of Monday, February 24, there was an earthquake of magnitude 4.4, ANSA reported.

“The 4.4 magnitude earthquake occurred at 17:02 in the province of Cosenza, 2 kilometers from the city of Rende,” the statement said.

According to the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, the epicenter of the earthquake was near the city of Rende.

Many people who were at home or in the shopping establishments of the city rushed to the street, afraid of further aftershocks.

There is currently no information on the dead or the victims.

Today it was also reported that there was a second earthquake in Turkey. The epicenter of the 4.8 magnitude earthquake was located 90 km northeast of the city of Izmir.

Recall, on February 23 on the border of Iran and Turkey there was an earthquake of magnitude 5.9. At least nine Turkish citizens were killed and more than 100 injured.
