As a result of the powerful earthquake, which occurred in the Aegean Sea, in Turkish Izmir, at least six people were killed and 202 more were injured. This was stated in the government department of emergency situations.
Turkish rescuers specified that one of the victims was covered with a large sea wave, which was formed as a result of an underground shock. Also because of this, some areas of the province were flooded. Whether there are Ukrainian citizens among the victims or injured is still unknown, said the Consul General in Istanbul, Alexander Gaman.
“Information about the possible presence of Ukrainian citizens among the victims is being established,” he wrote on Twitter, expressing condolences to the families of the victims and wishing recovery to the victims.
As already known, at least 20 houses were destroyed. The rescue operation continues – at the moment about 70 people are known to be rescued from the rubble.
