Eurovision analogue to appear in US

The launch of The American Song Contest, in which representatives of American states will compete, is scheduled for 2021.
In the United States, there will be an analog of the international Eurovision Song Contest. The American equivalent of the popular international music competition, which was called the American Song Contest, will be launched next year. This is reported by Variety on Friday, August 7.

In the American version, representatives of 50 states will compete for victory. Solo performers, duets, and groups of up to six people will be able to take part.

The competition will consist of qualifying rounds, semi-finals, and grand final.

According to the newspaper, an academy dedicated to the competition will be established before the American Song Contest. Members of this academy will select from artists and cultural figures the jury.

Imagine if the music was an Olympic sport and artists from all over the world united in the fight for gold. This is the Eurovision Song Contest. The American version will be different from anything you’ve seen before on American television, combining the excitement of “March Madness” (the basketball championship among the men’s teams of the 1st division of the NCAA) and the NFL playoffs with the artistry and beauty of world-class music performances,” the producers of the project noted.

Recall, the traditional Eurovision this year was canceled because of the pandemic coronavirus. The next competition will be held in Rotterdam from May 18 to 22.
