The possibility of conducting negotiations via the Internet was discussed by Maas and Lavrov during a telephone conversation.
German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed the possibility of holding a video conference of the foreign Ministers of the Normandy format countries. This is reported by the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry on Thursday, April 16.
During the telephone conversation, Maas and Lavrov exchanged views on the settlement of the situation in the Donbas, and also stressed the importance of encouraging the parties to implement the agreements reached during the last “Normandy meeting”.
The diplomats also agreed to hold a video conference of the foreign Ministers of the Normandy Four countries, but the date of the video conference will be agreed upon later.
Earlier, the media reported that the Normandy four summit will not take place in April.
Later it became known that contacts in the Normandy format were postponed due to the coronavirus. The meeting of the leaders of the Normandy format countries was to be held four months after the summit in Paris on December 9.
