After the “poisoning of the Squeakers” in Salisbury, the British government authorized tacit measures against Russia, in addition to expelling diplomats and imposing official sanctions.
Former national security adviser to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Mark Sedwill, made this statement in an interview with The Times.
He specified that these measures included the illegal withdrawal of money from Russia. In addition, there were other measures that Sadville did not disclose.

“We have also taken a number of non-public measures, including those relating to the illegal withdrawal of money from Russia, as well as tacit measures, of which I cannot, of course, tell you about,” he said.
Johnson’s former advisor also answered the question of why London has not so far used its cyberattack capability against Moscow.

“Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean we don’t do it,” he said.
And at the same time, he specified that the British government has not authorized any “illegal operations”. The latter truth contradicts his own words about the “illegal withdrawal of money from Russia.

“It is important for us to have freedom of maneuver in the grey zone and to use it effectively. We should not give the initiative to our opponents. There are vulnerable points that we can use, we just don’t always talk about it,” concluded Mr. Sedwill.
According to the British edition, Mark Sedwill resigned from his position in government in June this year. Apparently, his services to the crown were significant, because, after his resignation, the former advisor received a lifetime parish in the House of Lords of the British Parliament.

We would like to remind you that on October 22 Great Britain and European Union introduced sanctions against subdivision and employees of General Headquarters of the Armed Forces of Russia (GRU) for the fact that they allegedly carried out hacker attacks on the German Bundestag in 2015.
