Alberto Zangrillo, the attending physician of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi reported a deterioration in his health, reports the news agency ANSA.
Earlier, the TV channel Rai News 24 reported that Berlusconi was hospitalized in the Cardiothoracic Center in Monaco.
According to the doctor, it is a question of heart problems.
Zangrillo said that on Monday, January 11, he was rushed to the south of France, where Berlusconi is temporarily living. The doctor added that he requested that the politician be hospitalized in Monaco because he did not think it was appropriate for him to return to Italy.
Several years ago, Italy’s former prime minister underwent a major surgery, which took longer than expected to recover from.
In the fall of 2020, the 84-year-old Berlusconi contracted a coronavirus. The politician admitted that he had been feeling ill for some time and feared for his life. He called the illness “hellish.”
