In the German city of Gelsenkirchen, a police officer shot and killed a man who lunged at him with a knife. This was announced on Monday, January 6, Welt reports.

It is noted that the assailant shouted “Allahu Akbar” during the attack on the police.

According to the police, the man first hit a patrol car parked in front of the police station with an object and then approached the police with a knife in his raised hand. When the man did not stop after several warnings, a 23-year-old law enforcement officer fired a shot at the man, which turned out to be fatal.

On Sunday in Gelsenkirchen, a police officer shot and killed a 37-year-old man who was said to have lunged at several officers with a knife. After the murder of the attacker, a possible terrorist motive is investigated,” the statement reads.

The victim turned out to be a Turkish citizen who lived in Gelsenkirchen.

A few days earlier, near Paris, a man with a knife attacked passers-by. Three people were wounded and the police killed the attacker.
