The German Foreign Ministry said there are no foreign policy negotiations with the U.S. on Nord Stream 2 yet, but Berlin would like these consultations.
“I can’t yet report on such negotiations. The Foreign Minister has repeatedly stated that we would like such consultations and negotiations,” German Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Adebar said at a briefing, responding to a journalist’s question on the subject.
“We are aware of the critical attitude towards the Nord Stream 2 project on the part of the US and American politicians, which is shared not only by the president but also by part of the Congress. I believe that our American friends are aware of the position of the FRG government. Of course, this is a topic we are talking about,” said Steffen Seibert, a spokesman for the German Cabinet of Ministers.
