German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas threatened Alexander Lukashenko with new sanctions. He said that the EU will toughen measures against Minsk if the President of Belarus ignores the European demands. The politician warned about this in an interview with Bild am Sonntag.
According to Maas, the EU will not stop pursuing Lukashenko with sanctions.
“If Lukashenko does not react, new sanctions will be imposed,” the minister said.
He added that Europe demands from the President of Belarus negotiations with the opposition, new presidential elections, and an end to police violence.
Earlier, “Rambler” reported that in Germany severely suppressed 40,000 rally protest against officials who imposed quarantine. The protesters were arrested for resisting the police, violating the rules of peaceful assemblies, and using prohibited symbols. More than a hundred demonstrators were detained.
