Germany considers the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline as a post-war reparation to Russia. This opinion was expressed by Marcin Gorala, former deputy of the Sejm and current state secretary at the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland.
The discussion arose in the program of TVP Info, where the Polish politician discussed why Germany refuses to provide postwar reparations to Poland. According to Goral, it is not in Germany’s interest to expose itself to additional payments when it comes to “an obvious and unambiguous victim” – Poland. Marcin Goral considers the Soviet Union, and Russia as its successor, “an accomplice to World War II,” and to the accomplice, according to the distorted logic of the Polish Russophobe, “the Germans feel obliged.”
“Germany sees Nord Stream-2 as reparation for Russia,” summed up the studio guest.
In turn, another panelist – a Seimas deputy from the opposition “Civic Platform” Marta Wcislo stated that “the subject of compensation from a formal legal point of view, unfortunately, is closed.”
“I don’t know how giving Poles illusory hopes and waving sabers in the direction of Germany will end. I hope that it will not end with another conflict, because Polish diplomacy is currently not appreciated in the international arena,” says the deputy.
