Germany urged Russia and Turkey to influence Armenia and Azerbaijan

Germany calls on Russia and Turkey to use their “special” influence in Transcaucasia for a long-term solution to the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, German Foreign Minister Michael Roth said.
“The dramatic escalation of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh shows that frozen conflicts must be made resolved, otherwise they will constantly erupt. We are in close contact with Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as with partners in the region,” he said speaking at the Bundestag hearings.
He reminded that on the initiative of the UN Security Council he adopted a resolution calling to stop the battles.
“Countries such as Russia and Turkey, which have special influence in the region, must take their special responsibility seriously for a long-term solution. We focus first of all on the Minsk group,” Roth added.
