The gas pipeline “Nord stream-2” in any case will be completed, but because of the many problems will be more expensive.
This was stated by the head of the Committee of the Bundestag on energy Klaus Ernst
He called on Europeans to prepare for the loss of money because expenditures will shift to them. “In the end, you will have to pay European gas consumers,” — said Klaus. Thus the Deputy has commented on the decision of the Federal Network Agency of Germany (BNA), which on Friday finally refused to withdraw “North stream-2” from the effect of the updated gas Directive of the European Union.
The decision means that the maximum volume of deliveries on the route will be reduced in half. The Directive requires to reserve 50 percent of capacity for alternative suppliers, even if they are not. “Gazprom” holds a monopoly on exports of Russian gas, so the pipe 55 billion cubic meters per year will remain half empty.
In the previous version of the rules applies only to pipelines that pass through the territory of the European Union. Thus twice reduced deliveries at the OPAL, land continuation of the first “Nord stream”. Now, however, they expanded on the main line coming into the EU by sea, where they were completed later than May 2019.
“Nord stream-2” is not completed yet. The operator of the construction of Nord Stream AG 2 would be the date of completion of the project, the collection of all investments, but the German regulator has refused to accept this logic.
Russia expects the commissioning of the pipeline in late 2020 or early 2021. Officially the beginning of the resumption of construction was not reported, but laying vessel “Akademik Chersky”, able to continue the work and is in the German port of Mukran, where he arrived from Nakhodka.
