An underground shock was recorded at 11:03 UTC. The epicenter was located 56 kilometers west of the small settlement of Tonopah. The hearth lay at a depth of 4.1 kilometers. Also in 197 kilometers southeast of the epicenter is the city of Carson City with a population of about 55 thousand people.
After the mainshock, at least a dozen aftershocks were already recorded, the magnitude of the strongest of them reached 4.7, 4.9, 5.1.
