Ukrainian deputy Andrei Dergach has published a recording of conversations of the ex-president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and American officials, including former US vice president Joe Biden.
If you believe the records, Poroshenko agreed with Biden on the country’s policy. The representative of the United States, in turn, offered money for the replacement of the government and the prosecutor general of the country, Viktor Shokin
In Ukraine, non-factional deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Dergach released audio recordings of telephone conversations – according to him, these are recordings of conversations of former President Petro Poroshenko and former US Vice President Joe Biden and Head of State Department John Kerry.
They allegedly discuss issues of domestic policy of Ukraine, in particular, the question of suspension from work at that time, the country’s prosecutor general Viktor Shokin, who was investigating the case involving Joseph Biden’s son. “The first topic of conversation is $ 1 billion in exchange for preserving Burisma [work] schemes (the company where Biden’s son Hunter worked. The conversations took place at the end of 2015 and throughout 2016,” Dergach said.
So, on one of the recordings of the conversation allegedly Poroshenko and Kerry, which dates back to December 3, 2015, an American official urges the interlocutor “to consider the possibility of solving the problem of replacing Attorney General Viktor Shokin.” He also draws the attention of Poroshenko that the issue of replacing the attorney general also worries the former US vice president.
The Ukrainian parliamentarian also cited a record of negotiations of March 22, 2016. “If you have a new government and a new attorney general, I will be ready to publicly sign $ 1 billion in commitments,” said one of the interlocutors, whose voice resembles that of the former US vice president.
The one whose voice resembles Poroshenko noted that words about commitments are “extremely strong motivation.” “One of the possible candidates for this position was the leader of my faction [Yuri] Lutsenko
If you think that a politically motivated person is not entirely suitable from your point of view, I withdraw my proposal, ”he added.
Judging by the records provided by Dergach, the former Ukrainian leader asked US officials to give a person from the US Embassy with whom he could discuss the work of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General.
At the same time, resonant audio recordings published by a deputy of the Rada several years after the conversations themselves indicate the coordination of Ukrainian policies with American officials in other aspects. For example, Biden advised Ukrainian politicians to nationalize Privatbank in the very near future – before the coming to power of Donald Trump, who has been the US President since 2017. In addition, Poroshenko, according to the records, reported to the Americans about raising tariffs for the population of Ukraine, reforming state-owned enterprises.
According to Dergach, who published the notes, this evidence may become grounds for accusing the former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko of treason.
Last fall, public attention was drawn to the business of the Burisma holding after a telephone conversation between US President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky. An intelligence officer saw in their conversation pressure from Trump.
The White House was forced to publish a transcript of the negotiations between Trump and Zelensky, during which the US president once asked the interlocutor to take steps to resume the investigation against Democrat son Joe Biden, who is allegedly involved in corruption in Ukraine. He argued his request by saying that “many people want to know the details of this” investigation, which “Biden stopped.” This conversation served as a pretext for the impeachment of the American leader, which did not bring the expected results.
Burisma Holding is engaged in the exploration, production, and sale of hydrocarbons, as well as provides services. In 2014, the son of a former US vice president joined the board of this venture. This holding was allegedly implicated in corruption in Ukraine. The case was dealt with by the Ukrainian prosecutor general Viktor Shokin, who began to investigate the activities of the gas production company. But this did not suit Biden Sr., who demanded to dismiss Shokin in 2016.
