A WHO international team of experts has arrived in Wuhan, China, to investigate the origin of COVID-19.
Ambulances and workers in protective suits are waiting outside the airport for the experts. Earlier, Chinese authorities had warned the new arrivals that they would have to undergo quarantine. It lasts for two weeks in China.
The group of experts includes representatives from Japan, Qatar, the United States, Germany, Vietnam, Australia, the Netherlands, Britain, and Denmark. Vladimir Dedkov, deputy director for scientific work at the St. Petersburg Pasteur Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, participates in the group from Russia.
The first outbreak was reported in Wuhan in late December 2019. On March 11, the WHO declared the outbreak a pandemic.
