Iraqi security forces are leading the investigation into the incident
An airbase in Iraq, where U.S. troops are stationed, was hit by a missile attack Wednesday, a spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition said.
Col. Wayne Marotto said ten missiles landed on Ain al-Asad Air Base in Anbar province at 7:20 a.m. He said Iraqi security forces are leading an investigation into the incident.
There were no reports of casualties.
The attack came days after the Pentagon launched airstrikes against Iranian-linked militia targets on the Iraq-Syria border and on the eve of Pope Francis’ visit to Iraq on Friday
