. Italian authorities have asked the US military to provide assistance in connection with the spread of the coronavirus in the country. This was announced on Sunday by CNN.
According to a source from among officials, Italian Defense Minister Lorenzo Guerini addressed the head of the Pentagon, Mark Esper. The Italian side, in particular, requested that the US military provide masks and ventilators. As noted in the publication, the Italian authorities are counting on the assistance of American military physicians stationed in the country in the deployment of field hospitals and assisting local residents.
Esper previously reported that masks and ventilators from military depots will be available to civilians in the United States. The US military said it had deployed field hospitals in the United States.
Earlier, a group of Russian military specialists arrived in Italy, and equipment was also delivered for the diagnosis of coronavirus infection and disinfection measures.
The outbreak caused by the new coronavirus disease was recorded at the end of 2019 in Central China, later spreading to more than 150 countries and was recognized by the World Health Organization as a pandemic.
