Japanese fighters flew to intercept Russian bombers

Russian authorities said the flight took place over neutral waters

Japan raised F-15 fighters to intercept two Russian Tu-95MS bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons that flew over the Sea of Japan and the Pacific Ocean.

This was reported on Thursday by the Interfax agency with reference to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The ministry noted that the flight took place over neutral waters and was planned in advance.
