Journalists of closed TV channels in Ukraine began broadcasting on YouTube

Journalists of TV channels 112 Ukraine, NewsOne, and ZIK, which were closed by the decree of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, have created their own YouTube channel “Stop censorship 112 Ukraine, ZIK, Newsone”.
“We, the journalists of the three TV channels 112 Ukraine, NewsOne and ZIK, which, contrary to the law and common sense, have been closed by the current authorities, will continue our work despite enormous pressure. We will continue to tell the truth to our viewers and defend people’s right to watch fair and objective news. Neither threats nor intimidation will stop us. Attempts to make a ‘North Korea’ with only the information that benefits the authorities will not pass,” the 112 Ukraine TV channel website quotes the journalists as saying. They explained their decision by the fact that Ukrainians deserve the truth.

UN condemns sanctions against opposition TV channels in Ukraine
On Tuesday, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky by his decree enacted a decision of the National Security and Defense Council to impose sanctions for five years against TV channels 112 Ukraine, NewsOne and ZIK, and Verkhovna Rada MP Taras Kozak of the Opposition Platform – For Life faction, who owns the above channels. The sanctioned TV channels are in opposition to the government and are associated with one of the leaders of the Opposition Platform – For Life party, Viktor Medvedchuk. The party condemned this decision and called it a manifestation of dictatorship and infringement of freedom of speech in the country. The TV channels stopped broadcasting but remained available on YouTube.
The list of restrictions that apply to TV channels includes blocking assets, restricting trade operations, preventing the withdrawal of capital from Ukraine, suspending economic and financial obligations, revoking or suspending licenses and other permits. Television companies are also prohibited from using the radio frequency resource of Ukraine and rebroadcasting TV programs.
