Republican Congressman Louie Gohmert tries to challenge presidential election results
A federal judge rejected Republican Congressman Louie Gohmert’s lawsuit against U.S. Vice President Mike Pence.
Gohmert and 11 Republican electors from Arizona joined him in demanding that Pence, who will preside over a joint session of Congress on June 6 during which the results of the presidential election will be formally certified, decide not to count some of the electoral votes cast for Joe Biden.
A federal district court judge appointed by President Trump said the plaintiffs had no legal authority for such claims.
A spokesman for Mike Pence declined to comment on the situation.
Donald Trump refuses to admit defeat, declaring that Biden won because of extensive fraud. He and his allies, who tried to overturn the election results, lost about fifty lawsuits without being able to prove wrongdoing.
