“We will always defend freedom of speech and the right of the people of Los Angeles to live without fear of cruelty and vandalism,” he said.
Riots in the USA: more than 1300 people detained
Garcetti said curfews from 8 p.m. to 5 p.m. are introduced in order to increase the safety of protesters, police officers, and all residents of the city. According to ABC, law enforcement officers in Los Angeles use tear gas, stun grenades, and rubber bullets against demonstrators. More than 400 people were detained during the protests, as police declared it unlawful to gather people in central areas in connection with the murder of Floyd.
