Media: A suicide bomber attacks a church in Indonesian Makassar

A powerful explosion occurred near a Catholic church in the Indonesian city of Makassar on the morning of March 28, the number of victims is being specified, citing sources in the local police, Reuters reports.

According to preliminary data, more than ten people were injured as a result of the explosion, some of the victims are in serious condition. At the time of the explosion, a service was going on in the church, there were many people inside the building.

Eyewitnesses speak of a terrorist attack involving a suicide bomber. So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

After a series of terrorist attacks in Indonesia in May 2018, the police then blamed the local cell of the terrorist organization Daesh (Islamic State, IS, ISIS – banned in Russia). More than 30 people fell victim to attacks on churches and police stations in the world’s most populous Muslim country three years ago.
